In a 5- to 6-quart pan, combine beef, onion, garlic, taco seasoning, and olive oil over medium high heat. Stir often until meat is lightly browned,7-8 minutes.
To pan, add broth and beans. Bring to a simmer over high heat, stirring often. While soup heats, arrange chips in a serving basket.
Divide tomatoes, onions, cheese, and sour cream among separate serving bowls.
When soup is hot, ladle into bowls. Offer chips, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and sour cream to add to taste.
