yellow cooking onions, thinly sliced
cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 tsp
each salt, pepper and sugar

Sensations by Compliments 100% Pure Canadian Maple Syrup
75 mL
1/3 cup
Compliments red wine vinegar
75 mL
2 tsp
Worcestershire sauce
10 mL
1 tsp
each finely chopped thyme and rosemary
5 mL
2 tbsp
finely chopped fresh parsley
30 mL


Step 1

Heat oil in large cast-iron skillet set over medium heat. Stir in onions, garlic, salt, pepper and sugar. Cook 15 to 20 min., or until onions are golden brown. Stir in maple syrup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme and rosemary; bring to a simmer. Cook 10 to 15 min., or until liquids thicken to jam-like consistency. Remove from heat. Stir in parsley

Step 2

Serve on burgers, steak, sausages or in grilled cheese sandwiches. (Cooled onion jam can be stored in the fridge in a sealed container up to 2 weeks.)
