Ingredients

8 slices
sourdough bread (1/2-in./1-cm thick)
2 tbsp
butter, room temperature
30 mL

thin slices ham
3 oz
4 slices Jarlsberg, Swiss or Gruyere cheese

Method

Step 1

Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Sandwich 2 slices ham and 1 slice cheese between 2 bread slices (on unbuttered sides).

Step 2

Preheat panini press according to manufacturer’s directions and cook sandwiches 3 to 5 min. or until bread is toasted and cheese melts. Or brown sandwiches in skillet over medium-low heat, heating 2 to 3 min. per side until cheese is melted.

Step 3

Cut sandwiches in half to serve.

Tips

For a kid-friendly version, substitute Mozzarella cheese.
