Preheat a gas or charcoal grill to medium-high heat. In a bowl, mix together beef, onion, oregano, cinnamon, and salt and pepper to taste just until blended. Divide mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into oval patties about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide.
Step 2
When grill is ready, place patties over heat and cook, turning once or twice, until done to your liking, 10-12 minutes for rare.
Step 3
Remove burgers from grill and transfer to a platter.
Step 4
Cut baguette crosswise into 4 equal pieces, then cut each piece in half horizontally.
Step 5
Lay the bottom portion of each baguette on a plate. Top with two burgers and add lettuce to taste. Arrange top of baguette over meat and lettuce and serve.
Step 6
These are mildly seasoned burgers. If you want bolder flavour, increase the oregano and cinnamon to taste.
